Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic business researcher with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to join our team to cover a maternity leave from January 2018 for at least 6 months.  The successful candidate will be a team player and will be based in our Brussels Information Services Team. S/he will work as part of a group of researchers supporting the Brussels, Johannesburg, Lagos, London and Nordic Offices.  

As a Research Specialist, s/he will provide research and information services to consulting and administrative staff using appropriate electronic, print, and other resources.  S/he will work with consultants to help them collect relevant information, provide advice on research methodologies, and possible sources; as well as delivering ad hoc training.  Specialist knowledge of resources in one of Bain’s Practice Areas is desirable.

Core Responsibilities and Duties:

Research

  • Conduct research for local and regional case teams, Practice Areas and client development using electronic, print and other resources
  • Proactively work with consultants to understand their information needs and provide assistance within a given deadline;
  • Provide filtered and well organized research results; or alternative approaches to obtain information when data are not readily available
  • Deliver specific information and research training to the consulting and administrative staff
  • Proactively seek opportunities to broaden and deepen skill set and industry knowledge by participating in special projects (local and European)
  • May build industry and/or capability expertise by attending Practice Area meetings, industry conferences and regular reading of trade and internal publications

Asset Building

Participate in database management including contributing to the Information Services Portal, wikis and other projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Ideally a degree in library science or 2-3 years equivalent experience in a consulting, financial services or other professional services research environment
  • Experience in using Factiva, OneSource, Thomson databases and other standard business research tools preferred
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member, in a fast paced work environment
  • Knowledge of basic business concepts is an asset
  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in native language and English required
