The European Parliament Library is looking to recruit a temporary full-time cataloguer in Brussels for the period of one year. The selected candidate will have a contract as a documentalist with an external company which provides information staff for the Parliament.

Profile

The candidate must have:

• a qualification in librarianship / documentation / information science
• experience of cataloguing monographs using MARC 21 in an automated library management system
• experience of subject analysis using a thesaurus, subject headings or classification scheme
• the ability to work in English and have at least a reading knowledge of French and Dutch
• the ability to reach targets, work accurately and independently and maintain a steady productivity

The candidate should preferably have:

• knowledge and/or experience of classifying with the Dewey Decimal Classification scheme
• knowledge/experience of creating and amending bibliographic records in the library management system Ex Libris Alma
• a reading knowledge of other European language

The person recruited would be able to benefit from the EP teleworking scheme to the extent feasible for the execution of the tasks.
