This presentation will look at how libraries can use EBL and ebrary in order to combine complementary models in subscription, Demand Driven Acquisition (DDA), and purchase and will look specifically at how libraries can get the best value from each model.

Pioneers in the ebook industry, ebrary and EBL have a solid foundation of over 12 years experience in ebook library supply and nine years in Demand-driven Acquisition. Resulting from a significant shift to e-preferred collection policies and ebook acquisition programmes, these ProQuest businesses are currently working toward an integration that will combine the best of both in one ebook platform in approximately 16 months. This is an exciting step forward for the library industry to have two competing businesses come together to offer one solution.

In looking at how to optimise library budgets and offer users broad coverage and quality content, EBL and ebrary have individually developed award-winning, innovative options. ebrary’s Academic Complete subscription collection, perpetual models like EBL’s Non-Linear™ Lending and ebrary and EBL’s Demand-driven Acquisition (DDA) programmes are a selection of the models that libraries can use in a complementary fashion to allow them to find the best fit for their budget and collection goals.

Utilising a mixture of access models with a strong movement towards Demand-driven Acquisition (DDA), EBL and ebrary customers are constantly striving to be smart in their approach to the challenge of streamlining workflow and ease of access to content. They have also been instrumental in DDA best practices and driving innovation through the years, continuing to the present day.

It’s important to note that EBL and ebrary are constantly working with both the librarian community and publishing industry partners to lead the way in streamlining workflow and processes. With an additional continued commitment to both the existing EBL and ebrary platforms, new developments will build the foundation of the combined platform.
